32 Students Inducted Into Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society
Anyone interested in supporting the Mission of the Active Minds is encouraged to become a member. The Active Minds will not discriminate or tolerate the discrimination of any perspective member due to his/her sex, race, religion, creed, color, sexual orientation, or individuals with disabilities. Phi Alpha, Theta Tau Chapter, is the National Honor Society for ASU Social Work students.
The officers plan many activities for students related to social work and have at least monthly meetings. Professor Beth Webb is the faculty advisor for the organization. To recognize and promote scholastic achievement among students and faculty involved in the undergraduate and graduate social work program at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Students and faculty involved in Social Work education at Eastern Kentucky University resolve to sponsor a chapter of Phi Alpha National Honor Society for Social Work. This chapter aims to foster high standards of educational achievement in the Social Work program.
For more information about any of SFA’s more than 200 student clubs and organizations, you can contact your faculty advisor to find the best fit for your interests. In addition to student associations, you can also serve as a student representative on standing committees for the College of Social Work. Students selected by the student association attend meetings as voting members representing the student body. Over 243 chapters are now in existence, and the addition of new chapters is continuing.
Student has achieved an overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Attendance at the virtual initiation ceremony is required for membership. Phi Alpha offers a number of benefits to students and chapters. Formally admitted to Social Work Program as a full major .Acceptance letter and major declaration on file in SW office. Members participate in local, regional, and national professional social work conferences and symposia. Phi Alpha is a National Honor Society for Social Work with the goal of promoting the humanitarian goals of the profession and promoting closer bonds among students. In addition to ensuring academic excellence among members, the Phi Alpha honor society fosters mentoring relationships between alumni and current students and members regularly engage in service to their state and local community. Each Spring semester the faculty advisor and Phi Alpha executive officers distribute information regarding application to Phi Alpha.
These competencies are dimensions of social work practice that all social workers are expected to master during their professional training. A measurement benchmark is set by the social work programs for each competency. An assessment score at or above that benchmark is considered by the program to represent mastery of that particular competency.
